Art of Fandom
The Art of Fandom was a 7500-square-foot exhibition at the Anchorage Museum that explored the variety of ways fans share community and the feelings of empathy and camaraderie with those who share a common interest in celebrating even minor details of the objects of their fandom.
This exhibition confirmed for Museum audiences what many writers, artists and fans know who create new stories, contexts and visions for the object of their affection—that there are some things that just elicit a shared sense of ownership and adoration. With “Art of Fandom”, the Museum explored fandoms through art, objects and collectibles, with the objective to make these subcultures accessible to the mainstream.
